Satellite images show collapsed span of key Russian logistics bridge linking Crimea to occupied Kherson

A span of the Chonhar road bridge, a key Russian military logistics route connecting occupied Crimea with occupied parts of Ukraine’s Kherson Oblast, has collapsed following repeated attacks, satellite imagery shows.

Ukrainian OSINT group Dnipro Osint reported the damage based on satellite images taken in late September.

Imagery from Sept. 26 showed at least three large sections of damage to the bridge deck and an adjacent crossing. By Sept. 30, one of the bridge spans had collapsed.

The damage has significantly complicated traffic across the crossing and could further disrupt Russian military logistics between occupied Crimea and other Russian-held territories in southern Ukraine, the group said.

The Chonhar Bridge is one of the main road links between Crimea and Kherson Oblast and has been repeatedly targeted by Ukrainian forces.

Ukrainian units struck the bridge several times in June. After those attacks, Ukrainian military officials said the crossing had sustained critical damage and required extensive repairs, forcing Russian forces to divert vehicles through Armyansk and Perekop and construct pontoon crossings.

Earlier strikes involved Ukrainian-made drones, including systems produced by Fire Point.
