Russian strike damages operating room at Kyiv cardiology institute, injures patient

A Russian strike damaged an operating room at Kyiv's Strazhesko Institute of Cardiology on October 20, injuring one patient, Ukrainian Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi said.

According to Koretskyi, the strike hit the sixth floor of the institute, which specializes in treating heart disease and caring for patients recovering from heart attacks.

The patient received medical assistance, and no deaths were reported.

“This is the second time,” Koretskyi said, noting that the institute's fourth floor was hit last year.

The incident follows damage to another Kyiv medical facility on October 19, when a Russian attack shattered more than 200 windows at a diagnostic center in the city's Solomianskyi district and damaged doors, ceilings and medical equipment.

No staff members were injured in that attack, and no patients were present at the facility at the time.
