Russian attack on Kyiv kills one, injures 14, damages metro bridge (UPDATED)

A Russian ballistic missile and drone attack on Kyiv overnight on October 27 killed a woman, injured 14 people and damaged metro infrastructure on the city's Pivdennyi Bridge, Ukrainian officials reported.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said nine of the injured were hospitalized. Police identified the woman killed as 46 years old.

The attack damaged a university dormitory in Kyiv's Desnianskyi district, shattering windows. Most of the injured were residents of the dormitory.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russian ballistic missiles struck a university campus and surrounding areas, including Kyoto Park, a metro station and nearby residential buildings.

An ambulance crew responding to an emergency call also came under fire. A paramedic and an emergency medical technician were among those injured.

UPDATE: The rector of Kyiv's State University of Trade and Economics, Anatolii Mazaraki, denied reports of student deaths following the strike near a university dormitory.

"No one was killed. All the information circulating about deaths on university grounds is false," Mazaraki told hromadske.

Two second-year students, a man and a woman, were seriously injured while outside during the attack. The male student is expected to undergo a second neurosurgical operation. More than 200 people, including students, postgraduate students and faculty members, lived in the dormitory.

Separately, Ukraine's Health Ministry reported that the attack damaged a hospital in Kyiv's Dniprovskyi district, shattering windows in intensive care, rehabilitation, dialysis and palliative care units. No patients or hospital staff were injured.

Two ambulance workers sustained minor injuries while responding to a call, and their vehicle was damaged. Both continued working, the ministry said.

The attack also damaged an office of electricity distributor DTEK Kyiv Electric Networks. The company said crews were assessing the damage and carrying out repairs.

The strikes damaged metro infrastructure on the Pivdennyi Bridge, temporarily disrupting traffic and train services. Service on the red metro line was subsequently restored, while trains remained suspended between Osokorky and Chervonyi Khutir stations on the green line.

Air defense intercepts 257 targets
