Fire reported at major Russian oil refinery in Ryazan after drone attack

A fire was reported at one of Russia's largest oil refineries in Ryazan following an overnight drone attack on November 5, just weeks after the facility resumed operations following earlier strikes.

Ryazan Governor Pavel Malkov confirmed a large-scale drone attack on the region, saying fires broke out at industrial facilities in the city. He did not identify the affected sites.

Malkov said power lines were damaged, leaving parts of Ryazan without electricity. One person was injured, while residential buildings and a school also sustained damage.

The Ryazan oil refinery has a processing capacity of more than 17 million metric tons of crude oil annually and produces gasoline, diesel, jet fuel and other petroleum products.

In October, Reuters reported that the refinery had shut down one of its main crude processing units following a drone attack. The facility had only recently resumed operations.
