Trump instructs special envoy Kellogg to end war in Ukraine in 100 days — WSJ

US President Donald Trump has instructed the special envoy for the war in Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, to end the Russo-Ukrainian conflict within 100 days, The Wall Street Journal reports.

Kellogg, like some of Trump's other special envoys, was appointed despite his lack of relevant experience, according to the publication. Kellogg's former colleagues say his past military experience could be important for the Republican.

However, Kellogg has never worked as a diplomat, so he probably won't be involved in any real negotiations with Russia.

Moscow, for its part, has not expressed any interest in cooperating with Kellogg, the WSJ adds. However, the Kremlin suggests that a mutual understanding between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin could lead to improved relations between the United States and Russia.

Recall that Keith Kellogg previously stated that he sought to find a solution to the war within 100 days of Donald Trump's inauguration, which took place on January 20.

More about Kellogg

On November 27, 2024, Donald Trump nominated 80-year-old retired general Keith Kellogg as special envoy for the war in Ukraine.

The media unveiled the details of the plan according to which Kellogg proposes to end the war in Ukraine. In particular, he proposed a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine along the current line of hostilities. In order to encourage Kyiv to start negotiations, it is said that Ukraine should only receive military aid if Kyiv agrees to sit down at the negotiating table.

In addition, the plan calls for Ukraine's membership in the Alliance to be postponed, and Kyiv must return the occupied territories using only diplomatic means. In the meantime, sanctions on Russia could be lifted if it signs a peace agreement that satisfies Ukraine.
