Zelenskyy meets Pope Leo XIV in Rome to discuss peace efforts, POW return
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Rome on a visit where he met with the Pope, Sky News reports.
During his visit, the head of state held a meeting with Pope Leo XIV. Zelenskyy is also scheduled to meet with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
The Vatican said that during the meeting, the pontiff reiterated the need for "continued dialogue" and expressed hope that current diplomatic initiatives could lead to a "just and lasting peace."
The sides also discussed prisoners of war and the need to ensure the return of Ukrainian children to their families.
