Trump hails far-right AfD's election victory in Germany with ‘MGGA!’
U.S. President Donald Trump celebrated the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party's victory in the state election in Saxony-Anhalt, praising its stance on immigration and signing off with "MGGA."
"Wow! The Populist Party in Germany just had a really big night. They finally got tired of the absolutely horrible Immigration rules and regulations which have hurt Germany so badly," Trump wrote on Truth Social.
"THEY ARE ON THE RISE, and not going to take it anymore! MGGA!!!" he added, using an apparent play on his "Make America Great Again," or MAGA, slogan.
The AfD won nearly 44% of the vote in Saxony-Anhalt, finishing first in a German state election for the first time in the party's history. It fell three seats short of securing an outright majority in the state parliament.
The result marked a major breakthrough for the far-right party, which opposes military aid to Ukraine and has advocated closer ties with Russia.
The AfD hopes its success in Saxony-Anhalt will translate into greater support nationwide.
