Russian drone strikes on Kryvyi Rih shopping complex kill at least 6, injure at least 91 (UPDATED)
Russian drone strikes on a shopping complex in Kryvyi Rih killed at least six people and injured at least 91 others, six of them children, on August 21, according to Ukrainian authorities.
Dnipropetrovsk regional governor Oleksandr Hanzha said the sixth victim died in hospital from severe injuries sustained in the attack. Twenty-one of the injured were earlier reported to be in serious condition.
According to local authorities, Russian attack drones struck in two waves. A second strike hit the site about 30 minutes after the first impact and ensuing fire, when emergency services were already responding.
The first strike caused a fire inside the shopping complex, with stores burning as rescuers worked at the scene.
Earlier reports put the toll at two killed and 12 injured. Authorities said rescue operations were continuing and the wounded were receiving medical treatment.
The regional governor described the attack as a “terrorist attack” and called for greater international pressure on Russia.
