Russian morning attack kills 2 in Kherson, wounds 22
Russian troops opened fire on Kherson's Korabelnyi district early on Friday, killing two women and injuring 22 people, including three children, the regional military administration and State Emergency Service reported.
The barrage began around 7:30 a.m., sparking fires in an apartment in a high-rise and a private home.
The dead included a Kherson resident and a 46-year-old woman in a minibus whose identity is still being confirmed.
The State Emergency Service initially said 21 people were hurt in the morning attack, including three children.
The number of wounded rose to 22 after an 83-year-old man suffered a concussion, blast and closed head injury. Paramedics treated him on site; he was in a house during the strike.
The regional administration said a 16-year-old boy was among the injured. A shell hit his room during the barrage.
He was diagnosed with a mine-blast injury, concussion and shrapnel wounds to his torso and face. Emergency medics rushed him to a hospital.
