Russian attack Odesa Oblast: 1 killed, 6 wounded; port, energy, and industrial infrastructure damaged
Russian forces struck Odesa Oblast overnight into Friday, killing one person and wounding six while damaging port, energy, industrial and residential infrastructure, Ukraine’s State Emergency Service, Odesa regional police, and Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration Oleksii Kuleba reported.
In the region, Russian forces hit one of the ports. Warehouses containing fertilizer and transport vehicles, including freight rail cars, were damaged. A fire broke out at the site and efforts to address the fallout are ongoing.
In Odesa, hits and falling drone debris were recorded on the grounds of a sanatorium and a car dealership. At the dealership, large-scale fires erupted, spreading across 2,000 square meters. Parked vehicles, garage boxes with cars and an energy facility that suffered significant damage caught fire.
DTEK reported that the destruction to the energy facility is “extremely serious.”
“Repairs will require a prolonged period to restore the equipment to working condition. We are working on site now: clearing debris. We will do everything possible to eliminate the consequences of the attack as quickly as possible,” the company stated.
Two Shahed drones struck apartments in two residential buildings in Odesa. Apartments and building structures were damaged, but no further fires occurred.
Overall, as a result of the attack on Odesa Oblast, one person was killed and six others wounded. Three of the injured are in serious condition; medics are providing all necessary care.
