Lviv has held a farewell ceremony for 23-year-old police officer Viktoria Shpylka, who was killed in a terrorist attack the previous night, hromadske’s correspondent reports from Rynok Square.
Relatives, friends and colleagues gathered to honor Shpylka, a patrol officer originally from Volyn Oblast’s Verba village, where she will be buried on Wednesday.
Her colleague and friend, Senior Lieutenant Maria Feshchak, shared her memories of the policewoman. She said that Viktoria had her wedding on September 6 last year, and her husband is also a patrol officer.
"First and foremost, she was a very good friend of mine. Viktoria was a very sincere person, very kind, always able to find words of support. Before our shift, we always had a tradition of drinking coffee, discussing previous shifts, and simply wishing each other a calm and pleasant shift. On that day, we didn't have time to meet..." says Maria Feshchak.
Senior Lieutenant Marian Revakovych remembers Viktoria as a cheerful person who loved her family and friends, and whose calling was her service. She first served in Kherson Oblast, and from 2023 in Lviv Oblast.
"Viktoria was cheerful, loving, loved life, her relatives, friends, spending time with them, loved her team, was respectful, responsible at work and in the service, and above all, she was a very good person," shares Marian Revakovych.
