Russia attacks Chernihiv Oblast, killing 15-year-old girl and injuring her parents

A 15-year-old girl was killed, and her parents were injured when Russian forces attacked a village in Ukraine's Chernihiv Oblast with a drone overnight into Thursday, the Mena Town Council reported.

Russian troops struck a settlement in the Mena territorial community of Chernihiv Oblast after 1 a.m., damaging two residential homes.

The attack, involving a Russian UAV, sparked a fire in a house and an outbuilding, according to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, which reported that firefighters were extinguishing the blaze caused by the drone fall and assisting victims.

Police and rescuers from the Mena and Koriukivka communities responded at the scene.

Situation in the region

The regional military administration reported that Russian forces carried out 40 attacks across Chernihiv Oblast in the previous day.

Overnight into Wednesday, Geran drones hit enterprises in the Koriukivka and Novhorod-Siverskyi districts, including the Mena community, and destroyed a grain storage facility and damaged equipment in the Semenivka community.

On March 12, drones targeted Semenivka, damaging a five-story apartment building's facade and windows, a grocery store and a sawmill; four residents were reportedly injured.
