Russian strike kills elderly couple in Odesa, wounds 15
Russian forces attacked the southern Ukrainian city of Odesa overnight into Friday, killing an elderly couple and wounding 15 other people, the city’s military governor Serhiy Lysak reported.
The strike killed a husband and wife, both 75 years old. Eight of the 15 injured remained hospitalized as doctors provided necessary care.
According to Ukraine’s State Emergency Service, the attack damaged residential buildings and civilian infrastructure.
A direct hit on a three-story apartment building caused partial collapse and a fire, injuring six people there.
Two two-story homes were also destroyed; rescuers pulled one person from the rubble and evacuated 20 others, including two children. Seven people were injured at that site.
A Russian drone struck another two-story building, killing two people and wounding one; 16 residents were evacuated.
Emergency Service psychologists worked through the night at the scenes, assisting more than 50 residents — including three children — who were in severe emotional distress.
Rescue and recovery operations continue as information is being updated.
