Russian attack hits hospital in Odesa Oblast, destroying emergency ward

Russian forces attacked Odesa Oblast overnight into Wednesday, striking a district hospital, regional governor Oleh Kiper and the State Emergency Service reported.

The hospital’s emergency admissions department was completely destroyed. The therapeutic, cardiology, and surgical departments, as well as ultrasound and X-ray rooms, sustained significant damage.

There were no casualties among staff or patients at the time of the strike as all were sheltering in a protected area. Patients and medical personnel have since been evacuated to another medical facility.

In addition, residential buildings suffered significant damage during the massive attack. The facade and windows of a multi-story building were damaged, but no fire broke out.

Falling debris also sparked reed fires within the Danube Biosphere Reserve.

Two people were injured in the attack: a 47-year-old man and a 56-year-old woman. The woman was hospitalized with multiple shrapnel wounds; doctors assess her condition as serious.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Russian troops launched 171 attack drones across Ukraine overnight. Of those, 154 were shot down or suppressed in the northern, southern, and eastern parts of the country. However, 12 strike drones hit 10 locations, while debris from downed drones fell in 12 other locations.
