Ukraine, IMF discuss 2027 financing needs as Kyiv pledges reforms by year-end
Ukraine is working with the International Monetary Fund to secure part of the financing needed to maintain the country’s financial stability in 2027, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said after meeting IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva in New York.
Zelenskyy said the two discussed legislation Ukraine has committed to adopting as part of its obligations to international partners. Parliament has already approved some of the required measures, while the remaining legislation is expected to be passed by the end of 2026, he said.
The measures are necessary for Ukraine to receive further financial support, according to Zelenskyy.
The president said macrofinancial assistance remained particularly important as Russian attacks increasingly target infrastructure and disrupt the operation of Ukrainian businesses and state institutions.
Zelenskyy and Georgieva met on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.
