Kyiv metro suspends train service amid voltage drop as Russian attacks disrupt capital (UPDATED)
Kyiv's subway system temporarily suspended train services and escalator operations on Oct. 8 due to a drop in voltage from external power supply sources, city authorities said.
The Kyiv City State Administration announced the suspension, saying it would provide an update once services resume.
UPDATE: As of 18:39 - train services are gradually resuming on Kyiv's blue and green metro lines, although trains are running at longer intervals, city authorities said. The red line remains suspended.
The voltage drop has also temporarily disrupted some surface public transport services. City officials said replacement buses were being deployed along the Bohdanivska high-speed tram route.
The disruption comes as Kyiv faces Russian drone attacks that began overnight. According to the latest figures reported by local authorities, three people have been killed and 14 injured.
Emergency power outages were introduced across the capital earlier in the day, also causing disruptions to water supplies.
City officials have not specified whether the voltage drop affecting the metro was directly caused by the attacks.
