Russia fires 147 drones at Ukraine, injuring at least nine
Russian forces launched 147 strike drones overnight into Wednesday, targeting the Kharkiv, Sumy, Odesa and Chernihiv oblasts, with air defenses downing 128 in the north, south, and east of Ukraine, while 15 UAVs hit 12 locations and debris fell at three different locations, Ukraine’s Air Force reported.
Most drones were Shahed models (over 70), with others including Gerbera and Italmas models. They were launched from Russian cities Oryol, Kursk, Bryansk, Millerovo and Primorsko-Akhtarsk, as well as occupied Hvardiyske in Crimea.
Kharkiv Oblast
Ukraine’s State Emergency Service reported a drone strike on a residential area in Zolochiv, Bohodukhiv district, igniting a fire that destroyed structural elements of two private homes. Preliminary data indicate five people were injured.
Sumy Oblast
The National Police reported 38 strikes on 26 settlements during the day, using guided aerial bombs, MLRS, artillery, mortars and various drones.
In the Krasnopillia territorial community, a 63-year-old woman and 65-year-old man were wounded and a private home damaged. In the Kyrykivka community, transport infrastructure, an administrative building and technical equipment were hit. Police investigative teams and explosives experts are working at the sites.
Odesa Oblast
Odesa regional governor Oleh Kiper reported a strike on a critical infrastructure facility and part of its equipment.
"Fortunately, there were no casualties. The fire that broke out on the spot was quickly extinguished by rescuers. Work is underway to address the fallout from the attack," he noted.
Chernihiv Oblast
Ukraine’s Ministry for Communities and Territories Development reported a drone strike on civilian railway infrastructure that hit a locomotive, causing a fire. The driver and his assistant were injured. Emergency services are working at the scene.
