Ukraine's SBU confirms strike on major Russian refinery in Leningrad Oblast

Ukraine’s Security Service confirmed a successful drone strike on oil infrastructure in Russia’s Leningrad Oblast, hitting the Kirishinefteorgsintez refinery and the Kirishi pumping station and causing fires, the SBU reported on Tuesday.

Drones struck three primary distillation units (AVT) responsible for initial crude oil processing at the refinery and a tank with petroleum products at the pumping station.

Leningrad Oblast Governor Alexander Drozdenko confirmed a fire in the industrial zone of Kirishi.

The Kirishinefteorgsintez refinery is the largest in the region and one of the biggest in Russia, with an annual capacity of 20–21 million tons of oil.

It accounts for more than 6% of Russia’s total refining volume. The Kirishi pumping station is a key facility supplying oil and petroleum products for export through the Primorsk port.
