Up to 100 Russian soldiers may have been struck at FSB center in occupied part of Kherson Oblast (VIDEO)
Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) struck an FSB coordination center, based at a former local resort in the occupied part of Kherson Oblast, where up to 100 Russian soldiers may have been present, the SBU reported on Monday, July 20.
The strike was carried out by fighters from the SBU's Alpha Special Operations Center. According to the SBU, 13 Ukrainian drones struck the Russian deployment site.
The attack sparked a large fire. Preliminary estimates suggest up to 100 Russian personnel and more than 70 vehicles may have been at the center at the time of the strike.
The SBU said the facility had checkpoints, armed guards, engineering barriers and underground shelters.
"Such special operations inflict significant losses on the enemy in the temporarily occupied territories, disrupt the command and coordination system, force Russians to redirect additional forces to protect their own facilities, and significantly complicate logistics and support for FSB units," the SBU said in its statement.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced a 40-day operation to pressure Russia toward ending the war on June 25. Since then, SBU special forces have struck military supply vessels in occupied Kerch, at least seven Russian aircraft in Crimea, air defense systems, and oil facilities inside Russia, among other targets.
