Russia launches 128 drones at Ukraine overnight, air defenses down 113, damage reported

Russian forces launched 128 attack drones at Ukraine overnight into Friday, mostly Shahed-type, with Ukrainian air defenses downing or suppressing 113 of them, while 14 drones struck six locations and debris fell in seven more, the Air Force Command reported.

The drones were launched from Oryol, Millerovo and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, as well as from occupied Crimea (Hvardiyske and Chauda).

Odesa Oblast

According to the head of the Odesa City Military Administration, Serhiy Lysak, during the night Russia attacked the city with drones.

The city's residential areas remained unharmed. At the same time, a critical infrastructure facility was hit. There was no information about casualties.

The head of the Odesa regional military administration, Oleh Kiper, reported that the aggressor attacked the energy and port infrastructure of Odesa Oblast. According to him, the damage led to disruptions in the power supply.

Russian forces also attacked empty tanks and port equipment. "The fires that broke out have been contained. All emergency services are working on the ground. The consequences are being recorded and their elimination is ongoing," Kiper added.

Sumy Oblast

Russian forces attacked the city of Konotop, in Sumy Oblast, with drones. According to the city's mayor, Artem Semenikhin, the enemy targeted an administrative building and a residential building.

The mayor noted that the Russians also cut off gas networks in one of the city's central neighborhoods. As a result, several high-rise buildings were left without gas.

Three private cars caught fire during the attack. Rescue and municipal services were working at the scene. According to Semenikhin, there were no casualties.

Kherson Oblast

As reported by the head of the Kherson city military administration, Yaroslav Shanko, over the past day, the Russian army attacked five settlements in the territorial community. Using artillery and drones, Russia struck Kherson, Prydniprovske, Antonivka, Sadove, and Inzhenerne.

According to him, private and multi-storey buildings, civilian cars and a critical infrastructure facility were damaged. "As a result of Russian attacks in the Kherson community, eight people were injured, including a child," the mayor noted.

Dnipropetrovsk Oblast

Overnight, the Russians attacked three districts of the region 30 times with drones and artillery.

As reported by the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Military Administration Oleksandr Hanzha, in the Nikopol district the aggressor shelled Nikopol, and the Chervonohryhorivka, Marhanets and Pokrovske communities. Damage was reported to a high-rise building, a house, a business and a car. A 74-year-old man was injured in the attack; he will be treated as an outpatient.

In addition, the Russians attacked the Zelenodolsk community of the Kryvyi Rih district where a house was hit, as well as the Mykolaivka community of the Synelnykove district, where a garage caught fire.

Hanzha also noted that another person was injured in the attack on the Nikopol district on April 9, a 40-year-old man who will be treated as an outpatient. In the Synelnykove district, two people were killed and one was injured. A 52-year-old man was hospitalized in moderate condition.
