Ukraine's Special Operations Forces confirm strike on Volgograd oil refinery, halting operations

Ukraine's Special Operations Forces confirmed striking Russia's Volgograd Oil Refinery overnight into Thursday, halting operations at the facility that supports the invasion forces, the SOF Command reported on Facebook.

Preliminary information from the military indicates the refinery's operations are currently suspended.

The Volgograd refinery is involved in supplying Russia's armed forces, the statement said.

"This refinery is the largest producer of petroleum products in Russia's Southern Federal District. Its annual processing capacity is 15.7 million tons, accounting for 5.6% of Russia's total oil refining," the message read.

Volgograd Governor Andrey Bocharov earlier reported that drones massively attacked the city overnight.

Debris from a downed drone in Volgograd's Krasnoarmeysky district shattered windows and damaged the roof of two private homes. No injuries were reported. Civilian flights over the region were fully suspended during the air raid alert.
