Drones hit Russia's Volgograd, possibly targeting local refinery
Drones attacked Russia's Volgograd city overnight into Thursday, with residents hearing at least five explosions, Governor Andrey Bocharov and Telegram channel SHOT reported.
Bocharov said debris from a downed drone in Volgograd's Krasnoarmeysky district shattered windows and damaged the roof of two private homes, with no injuries reported.
Civilian flights were suspended over the region during the alert. Social media reports suggested the local Lukoil-Volgogradneftepererabotka refinery may have been the target.
Russia's Defense Ministry claimed its air defenses downed 43 drones attacking the country that night. Ukraine, accused of the strikes, has not commented.
