Morning Russian attack on Kyiv Oblast was atypical — Ukrainian Air Force

Russian forces launched an unusually intense morning drone attack on Kyiv Oblast after firing 211 strike UAVs overnight into Monday, Ukraine’s Air Force Command reported.

The drones — Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas and other types — approached from Oryol, Kursk, Bryansk, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia and Hvardiyske in occupied Crimea.

Ukrainian air defenses, including aviation, surface-to-air missile units, electronic warfare teams, unmanned systems and mobile fire groups, countered the assault.

As of 11 a.m., air defenses downed or suppressed 194 drones across northern, southern and eastern Ukraine.

16 strike drones hit 10 locations, while debris from downed UAVs fell at 11 additional sites.

Kyiv authorities reported consequences in three districts: in the Sviatoshynskyi district, debris landed on non-residential land and ignited grass; in Solomyanskyi district, drone parts fell in an open area.

Smoldering wreckage was recorded near the Independence Monument in central Kyiv.
