Ukraine's SBU drones hit Russia's largest Baltic oil terminal at Primorsk, setting tanks ablaze

Ukraine's Security Service and Defense Forces struck Russia's Transneft oil terminal at Primorsk port in Leningrad Oblast and a major oil refinery in Ufa overnight into Monday, Ukraine's General Staff reported, and an SBU source confirmed.

Drones operated by the SBU's Alpha Special Operations Center, acting in coordination with other Defense Forces units, struck the Transneft — Port Primorsk oil terminal, setting off fires in oil and petroleum product storage tanks, an SBU source told hromadske. Local authorities confirmed the strike and fires, and said personnel were being evacuated.

The SBU described Primorsk as Russia's largest oil port on the Baltic Sea and a key export hub through which a significant share of Russia's oil reaches foreign markets, including via the so-called shadow fleet. In 2025 alone, more than 46.6 million tons of oil passed through the terminal.

A fire also broke out at the Bashneft-Ufaneftekhim oil refinery in Ufa, which the General Staff described as "an important link in fuel supply for Russian armed forces."

The facility has a primary oil processing capacity of roughly 6 to 8 million tons per year and is located approximately 870 miles from the Ukrainian border.

"Every barrel of Russian oil sold is money that goes toward the war against Ukraine. That is why the SBU continues its systematic work to reduce those revenues. Such special operations will continue until Russia ends its aggression against our country," the SBU source said.
