Ukrainian General Staff confirms strikes on Tuapse and Perm oil refineries

Ukrainian Defense Forces, together with the Security Service of Ukraine’s special operations center “Alpha,” struck the Tuapse oil refinery and sea port infrastructure in Russia’s Krasnodar Krai overnight into May 1, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the SBU reported.

According to the SBU, Ukrainian drones hit the sea oil terminal and the Tuapse oil refinery, which serve as important production and logistics hubs for Russian oil extraction, refining, and export. The Tuapse refinery is Russia’s only oil processing plant on the Black Sea coast, with an annual capacity of nearly 12 million tons of oil.

“As a result of the Ukrainian drone strike, a fire broke out in tanks containing an oil and fuel mixture. A column of black smoke is rising over the terminal,” the SBU stated.

The General Staff noted that the extent of the damage is still being assessed.

In addition, the Ukrainian military reported hitting several Russian military targets in temporarily occupied territories. These include a Buk-M3 anti-aircraft missile system near Olkhovatka in Donetsk Oblast, ammunition depots in Luhansk Oblast, a material and technical support warehouse near Melitopol in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, and a command and observation post near Kairy in Kherson Oblast.

Ukrainian forces also struck a drone storage facility near Dalneye in Belgorod Oblast, as well as drone control points near Huliaypole in Zaporizhzhia Oblast and near the settlements of Shevchenko and Voskresenka in Donetsk Oblast.

Earlier on May 1, authorities in Russia’s Krasnodar Krai declared a drone attack threat, followed by reports of a fire at the sea terminal in Tuapse — the fourth strike on the city in recent weeks.
