Massive drone attack hits Russia's Volgograd refinery
Russia came under a massive drone attack in Volgograd Oblast overnight into Wednesday, with signs of damage to the Lukoil-Volgogradneftepererabotka refinery in the city, Governor Andrei Bocharov reported.
Bocharov said drones targeted energy and civilian infrastructure facilities across the region.
One residential building sustained damage, and a drone crashed on the grounds of a kindergarten. No casualties have been reported so far.
Bocharov also confirmed a fire broke out at an industrial site in southern Volgograd.
Telegram channel Astra, citing eyewitness footage, reported that the Lukoil-Volgogradneftepererabotka refinery in the Krasnoarmeysky district was hit and caught fire.

View in Telegram.The refinery is described as the largest in the region and one of Lukoil’s key assets. It processes more than 15 million tons of crude oil annually and specializes in deep refining, producing gasoline, diesel, and aviation fuel, fuel oil, bitumen, and other petroleum products.
The overnight attack marked at least the ninth on this refinery.
Russia’s Defense Ministry claimed its air defenses intercepted or destroyed 108 Ukrainian drones during the night, with the largest number — 49 — over Volgograd Oblast.
