Ukrainian delivery giant Nova Poshta says its private air defense has shot down Russian drones

Ukraine's largest express delivery company, Nova Poshta, has deployed its own air defense capability and has already shot down Russian Shahed attack drones, co-owner Viacheslav Klymov said, according to Interfax-Ukraine.
"We are one of the few companies that have implemented this project. I don't want to disclose the figures, but we have shot down Shaheds," Klymov said at the Kyiv International Economic Forum.
He argued that Ukrainian businesses are increasingly taking on responsibilities once considered exclusively the state's domain, including air defense and emergency response.
Klymov said Nova Poshta employees also extinguish many fires caused by Russian attacks without waiting for state emergency crews to arrive. He added that major companies were looking to purchase fire engines in Europe to establish their own firefighting services.
The initiative is part of a broader government-backed program allowing critical infrastructure operators to establish air defense groups to protect their facilities.
Under the program, personnel must undergo training and certification, while Ukraine's Air Force can temporarily provide air defense equipment and ammunition not currently used by combat units. The groups operate under the command of the relevant Air Force authorities.
As of October, nearly 100 Ukrainian companies had joined the initiative, forming around 50 air defense groups. Together, those groups had shot down more than 60 aerial targets, according to figures previously reported by hromadske.
Klymov did not disclose how many drones Nova Poshta's own air defense personnel had intercepted.
Nova Poshta operates a nationwide network of delivery branches and parcel lockers and is one of Ukraine's leading logistics companies.
