Tiger spared euthanasia after man enters enclosure and dies at UK wildlife park

A tiger at a wildlife park in northern England will not be euthanised after a man entered its enclosure and was fatally attacked, park officials said.
The incident occurred on October 10 at Yorkshire Wildlife Park near Doncaster, according to South Yorkshire Police.
Emergency services were called shortly after 1:30 p.m. after a man entered a tiger enclosure. The animal attacked him, causing severe injuries.
Despite efforts by medical personnel, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said his family had been informed.
The tiger was not injured and remained inside its enclosure throughout the incident, police said, adding that there was no wider threat to the public.
The park evacuated visitors and closed for the remainder of the weekend.
Park officials subsequently confirmed that the tiger, named Altai, was safe and would not be euthanised.
South Yorkshire Police urged people not to share distressing footage of the attack circulating online.
Yorkshire Wildlife Park's tiger habitat opened in 2011 and houses Amur tigers, an endangered subspecies native to the Russian Far East and northeastern China.
