Germany arrests two suspects over arson at Polish Starlink station serving Ukraine

German police have arrested two Turkish nationals suspected of setting fire to a Starlink ground station in Poland that helps provide internet connectivity to Ukraine, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said on October 13.

The suspects were detained by German police at the request of Polish authorities, Tusk announced on X.

"This is another act of hybrid warfare. Those responsible for the sabotage will face the Polish justice system," he said.

Polish police chief Marek Boroń said investigators had reconstructed the suspects' preparations and escape from the scene. A special investigative team was established to track them down.

Polish authorities are now awaiting the suspects' transfer from Germany.

The fire broke out on September 23 at a Starlink ground station in Wola Krobowska, in Poland's Mazowieckie region. The facility provides internet connectivity to parts of Central and Eastern Europe, including Ukraine.

Tusk previously said the station's equipment was operating normally following the incident.

Polish prosecutors have said they have reasonable grounds to suspect that the perpetrators may have acted on behalf of Russian intelligence services.

However, Polish authorities have not confirmed Russian involvement in the fire.
