NATO Military Committee visits Kyiv for first time in 8 years

NATO’s Military Committee has arrived in Kyiv for its first official visit to Ukraine in eight years, bringing together military representatives from all 32 members of the alliance.

Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, chair of the NATO Military Committee, said the visit followed a commitment he made to Ukraine’s Commander-in-Chief Mykhailo Drapatyi and continued the engagement begun during the North Atlantic Council’s visit to Ukraine in June.

“After an eight-year absence, the NATO Military Committee is returning to Kyiv for an official visit,” Dragone said. “Although we have not physically been here, Ukraine has always remained in our thoughts, discussions, decisions and subsequent actions - every day.”

During the visit, the NATO representatives are expected to meet Drapatyi to hear Ukraine’s latest assessment of the battlefield situation and discuss what further support the alliance can provide.

The Military Committee is NATO’s highest military authority and brings together the senior military representatives of all 32 allied countries.
