Norway confirms Witkoff will join Zelenskyy talks in Oslo, Kushner to participate remotely

US special envoy Steve Witkoff will travel to Oslo on October 20 to join talks involving Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Finnish President Alexander Stubb and Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre. Jared Kushner, another envoy of US President Donald Trump, will participate remotely, the Norwegian government confirmed.
According to a statement published on the Norwegian government's website, Ukraine requested the participation of both US envoys in the talks aimed at advancing diplomatic efforts to end Russia's war against Ukraine.
“I am pleased that they are able to participate. Diplomatic efforts have previously taken place in several countries, and Norway and Finland are pleased to be able to continue this work. The aim is to put diplomatic efforts on a more constructive path,” Støre said.
Reuters reported on October 19, citing three sources, that Witkoff and Kushner were expected to take part in Ukraine-related talks in Norway. At the time, neither the date nor Zelenskyy's participation had been confirmed.
The previous round of talks between Ukrainian and US negotiators took place in Miami on October 9 and ended earlier than planned, amid reports of a US-Russia diesel agreement.
