Czechia withdraws from Eurovision 2027 over budget constraints

Czechia withdraws from Eurovision 2027 over budget constraints

Czechia will not participate in the 2027 Eurovision Song Contest as public broadcaster Czech Television cuts spending amid ongoing budget adjustments.

Czech Television said on Oct. 6 that it had decided to withdraw from next year’s competition because Eurovision requires significant spending on programming, production and organization.

“In light of the ongoing budget adjustments, Czech Television has decided not to participate in the 2027 edition,” the broadcaster said.

The broadcaster said the decision applies specifically to the 2027 contest and declined to speculate about when Czechia might return.

Czech Television also does not plan to purchase broadcasting rights for the competition. Czech viewers will still be able to watch Eurovision through its official YouTube stream and vote as part of the “Rest of the World.”

Bulgaria will host Eurovision 2027 after DARA won this year’s contest with Bangaranga. Ukraine finished ninth.
