White House vows Democrats will fail to reverse Trump's policies after midterm defeat

The White House has vowed to resist attempts by Democrats to reverse President Donald Trump's policies after the party won control of both chambers of Congress in the November 3 midterm elections.
In a statement published on November 4, the administration said Democrats would “try - and fail” to undo Trump's policies during the final two years of his presidency.
“Every time the Radical Left, the Fake News, and the professional panic class have written President Trump's obituary, they have been wrong. They will be wrong again,” the statement said.
The White House listed immigration restrictions, tax cuts, energy policies and the elimination of diversity, equity and inclusion programs among what it described as Trump's achievements.
It also warned that attempts to impeach the president or reverse his administration's policies would fail.
The confrontational statement followed Trump's earlier remarks to The New York Times that he was prepared to accept the election results and work with Democrats.
Democrats secured majorities in both the Senate and House of Representatives in the November 3 elections, giving them control over the congressional legislative agenda when the new Congress convenes in January.
The new balance of power could allow Democrats to challenge Trump's policies, launch congressional investigations and pursue legislation opposed by the White House, although overriding a presidential veto would require two-thirds majorities in both chambers.
