Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Poland for events marking the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz, reported public broadcaster Suspilne with reference to presidential press secretary, Sergii Nykyforov.

During the visit, the Ukrainian leader will hold bilateral meetings, including with European Council President António Costa and French President Emmanuel Macron.

Earlier, Polish media reported that other world leaders, including King Charles III of Britain, will also arrive in Poland for the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. This will be the first foreign visit by a British monarch this year.

Meanwhile, some leaders have decided not to attend the celebrations, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Back on November 21, 2024, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for crimes against humanity and war crimes committed in the Gaza Strip from at least October 8, 2023 to at least May 20, 2024.

Poland promised to arrest Netanyahu on a warrant from the International Criminal Court if he came to the country for the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz.

Later, Polish President Andrzej Duda asked Tusk's government to guarantee the Israeli premier protection from arrest when he arrives in Poland on January 27. The government then passed a resolution guaranteeing the free and safe participation of senior Israeli representatives during the celebrations.

However, it was later reported that Netanyahu would not attend the event in Poland. Instead, the Israeli delegation would be led by Education Minister Yoav Kisch, the Jerusalem Post reported.
