Ukraine's National Anti-Corruption Bureau conducted searches on Monday morning at the home and businesses of Timur Mindich, a businessman and co-owner of the Kvartal 95 production company, just hours after he reportedly fled the country, the Ukrainska Pravda news outlet reported, citing law enforcement sources.

The searches are ongoing in Kyiv — and the businessman reportedly left Ukrainian territory a few hours before they began, the outlet added.

Earlier, Censor.NET, citing sources, reported that Mindich is a figure in a NABU investigation into the embezzlement of state funds. His documentation was handled by Ruslan Mahamedrasulov — head of NABU's interregional detective department, who has now been detained on charges by the Security Service of Ukraine.

Ukrainska Pravda, citing a "well-placed source" in anti-corruption agencies, also claimed that the bureau is preparing charges for the businessman.

Media outlets have described Mindich as a friend of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, a co-owner of the Kvartal 95 film studio and someone close to the President's Office.

In particular, investigative journalist Mykhailo Tkach reported that in 2021, Zelenskyy's birthday was celebrated at Mindich's apartment with Kvartal members. Zelenskyy himself claimed that he celebrated in his own apartment, and Mindich's place is in the same building.

According to MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak, NABU also searched the offices of the Minister of Justice, who was previously the Minister of Energy, German Galushchenko, and the Energoatom company.
