An explosion broke out in Kyiv around 10 p.m. on October 22, on Pushkinska Street near a building entrance. Two men were killed in the blast and another woman was left injured.

Hromadske was informed by the spokeswoman of the Shevchenko Kyiv Police Department Anna Zubrieva.

According to her, an operational investigation group was working at the site into the early hours of October 23.

"As a result, two men were killed anda woman was hospitalized with injuries," the Kyiv police press service said.

According to the Informator journalist, who was present at the site, the young woman, who was passing by, received shrapnel wounds and was taken away by an ambulance.

"According to witnesses, the two men were playing with a grenade in their hands, at one point it fell out of their hands, and an explosion occurred," the journalist said.

At the same time, according to Kyiv Operative, a conflict took place between the men, which is when one of the men got out a grenade, which exploded in his right hand.

Later, Kyiv Police Chief Andriy Khryshchenko announced that the casualties of the October 22 blast knew each other.

According to Khryshchenko, the men were talking near the commercial building, and then an explosion occurred.

"There are witnesses and video recordings that confirm that no one approached them, they had no conflicts with anyone," the Kyiv police chief added.

Kryshchenko also said that the injuries of the woman that was nearby are not life-threatening. She suffered a small shrapnel wound.

Despite the fact that law enforcement agencies have initiated criminal proceedings under Article 115 (2) of the Criminal Code (premeditated murder), the primary lead is negligent handling of an exploded grenade.
