4,074 civilians killed, including 262 children, in Russia's invasion of Ukraine — UN

As of February 24, at least 4,074 civilians have been killed and 4,826 injured in Ukraine, according to the data from the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights as of early May 30.

The fatalities included 1,540 men, 1,014 women, 93 girls and 100 boys, as well as 69 children and 1,258 adults whose gender is still unknown.

The largest number of civilian casualties was in Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts — 2,307 dead and 2,730 wounded. In other areas where fighting took place or still continues, 1,767 people were killed and another 2,096 were injured.

The UN emphasizes that the actual number of dead and injured may be higher. The organization also notes the delay in obtaining information from areas where intense hostilities are underway. Many reports are still awaiting confirmation, such as in Mariupol, Izyum and Popasna, where there is information about numerous civilian casualties that the UN has not yet been able to confirm on its own.

According to the Mariupol City Council, at least 22,000 people died in the city. The Azov Regiment claimed that the Russian army killed more than 25,000 people, mostly civilians, during the blockade of Mariupol.
