Aircraft crash in Zhytomyr region; second ship leaves UA port after Russia's exit from grain deal: August 26 highlights

Aicraft crash in the Zhytomyr region

On the eve of Aviation Day, on August 25, the crews of two L-39 combat trainer jets collided near the village of Singury in the Zhytomyr region. All three pilots were killed. Among the dead was a famous pilot of the 40th Tactical Aviation Brigade, call sign Juice.

Sternenko's case

In Serhii Sternenko's self-defense case, the prosecutor requested for an additional psychiatric examination of the activist. The blogger posted about this on Facebook.

The prosecutor also requested to send for an additional examination of the ZT-0620 knife, which the activist claims he used to defend himself during the attack on him in Odesa. In addition, the prosecution requested the court to summon experts for questioning.

The second vessel leaves after the end of grain deal

Today, August 26, the second ship left the port of Odesa after Russia disrupted the grain deal, says the data from MarineTraffic. The Liberian-flagged bulk carrier PRIMUS is heading towards the port of Varna in Bulgaria. The ship is expected to arrive there on August 27.

According to Andriy Klymenko, project manager of the Institute for Black Sea Strategic Studies, this vessel arrived in Odesa on February 20, 2022, under the Greek flag and changed ownership while in the Ukrainian port.

A bet with Reznikov

Mykhailo Tkach, a journalist for Ukrayinska Pravda, and Anastasia Radina, a member of the Servant of the People party, responded to Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov's betting proposal. They demanded refutations and the fulfillment of his direct duties.

Anastasia Radina noted that the minister of a country at war "should be dealing with his subordinates right now," providing the military with drones, launching a logistics procurement agency, organizing the modernization of aircraft, etc.

Mykhailo Tkach replied to Reznikov that he believes he should have resigned after the investigation into the Ministry of Defense's purchase of eggs at inflated prices.
