The Ukrainian military attacked the FSB building and an oil refinery in Kursk with drones. Russian troops shelled Kherson and the region, killing two people. In Kyiv, a fire broke out in an animal shelter with about 60 cats, suspected to be arson. Here's a roundup of the most important news.

Kursk attacked by drones

On the morning of September 24, the Ukrainian military attacked the building of the Federal Security Service in Kursk, Russia, a source in the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine told hromadske.

Kursk authorities announced a drone attack on the administrative building in the morning. Local residents wrote that "a building on Dobrolyubova Street" was hit. This street in Kursk is home to the regional office of the FSB.

Later, a drone hit an oil refinery near the local airfield.

Shelling of Kherson

On the morning of September 24, Russian occupation forces shelled the Korabelnyi district of Kherson with artillery, injuring four civilians.

Then the occupiers dropped two bombs on Kherson: one hit the industrial zone in Dniprovskyi district and the other hit civilian infrastructure in Korabelnyi district. One person was wounded as a result of the hit.

Before that, Russian troops struck twice in Kherson Oblast: a woman was killed and three people were injured in the town of Beryslav, and an elderly man was killed in the village of Lvove.

Situation at the frontline

Defense forces continue to conduct defense in eastern and southern Ukraine, as well as offensive actions on the Melitopol and Bakhmut axes.

In the Melitopol sector, in particular, near the village of Verbove in Zaporizhzhya Oblast, the Defense Forces are pushing the enemy out of their positions and consolidating their positions. The day before, the command reported a breakthrough in the Russian defense near Verbove.

Meanwhile, on the Bakhmut axis, the occupiers tried to regain their lost ground near Klishchiyivka in Donetsk Oblast, but were unsuccessful. Defense forces continue assault operations south of Bakhmut, inflicting losses in manpower and equipment on the enemy, and consolidating their positions.

Fire at Kyiv cat shelter

A fire broke out in the Holosiyivskyi district of Kyiv at the "Kotobaza na Teremkakh" animal shelter.

According to preliminary data, there were about 60 cats in the shelter. Police say that seven of them died in the fire, while others were taken to a veterinary clinic with burns.

At the same time, the shelter says that they managed to save only a few cats: out of seven cats taken to the veterinary clinic, only one survived.

The keeper of the shelter says it was arson. Kyiv police opened a criminal investigation and are looking for the perpetrators.
