In recent days, the Russians were able to make only "superficial repairs" to the damaged Antonivskyi bridge. It probably remains structurally damaged, says the daily report of British defense intelligence published on Twitter.
British experts believe that even if the occupying administration does manage to significantly repair the bridges, they will still remain a "key vulnerability."
Therefore ground supply for several thousand Russian troops on the west bank of the Dnipro River probably depends on only two pontoon crossings.
The intelligence notes that the two main road bridges that provide access to the Russian-occupied part of the territory on the west bank of the Dnipro in Kherson Oblast are probably not currently being used for significant military supplies.
The report also states that on August 10, high-precision strikes by Ukrainian forces likely made the Dnipro crossing at Nova Kakhovka unusable for heavy military equipment.
"With their supply chain constrained, the size of any stockpiles Russia has managed to establish on the west bank is likely to be a key factor in the force’s endurance," the report reads.
Strikes on bridges
The Ukrainian Armed Forces targeted the bridges, which are crucial for the supply of the occupiers. On the night of July 27, the Ukrainian again struck the Antonivskyi Bridge, after which, according to the Kherson authorities, it was rendered unfit for use.
After the Ukrainian strike on the Antonivskyi bridge, the occupation administration completely forbade its use. They announced the opening of the ferry service and the possibility of traveling through the Kakhovska HPP.
As the BBC wrote, blocking this bridge endangered the Kherson garrison of the Russian army, even if the dam in Nova Kakhovka remained intact.
The attacks were repeated on the night of August 8, when the Armed Forces hit the Antonivskyi and Kakhovskyi bridges.
