Attack on a ship in Sevastopol and detention of attackers on police officers from Vinnytsia region: April 21 highlights

The Ukrainian Navy hit the Kommuna, a ship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in temporarily occupied Crimea. Two soldiers suspected of attacking police officers in the Vinnytsia region are detained in the Odesa region. A strike on a ship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet

On the morning of April 21, explosions were heard in the temporarily occupied Sevastopol. It was reported online that a fire had started on one of the ships in the bay. Local and OSINT resources reported an attack on the Kommuna rescue ship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet.

The Ukrainian Navy confirmed that this particular ship was hit. They noted that the nature of the damage is currently being verified, but the ship is “no longer capable of performing its tasks”.

The US may send aid by the end of next week

The Senate of the US Congress believes that the US may send Ukraine aid, including ATACMS missiles, by the end of next week. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy believes that Ukraine will be able to seize the initiative on the frontline when the US delivers the necessary weapons.

Until that happens, the Russians may intensify their offensive operations at the front and intensify missile and drone attacks on Ukraine, using the “window” before the aid arrives, the Institute for the Study of War suggests.

Detention of attackers on police officers from Vinnytsia region

In the Odesa region, two soldiers suspected of attacking police officers in the Vinnytsia region, which resulted in the death of one of the police officers, were detained. Both face life imprisonment.

According to police, the suspects planned to flee abroad. And the reason for the attack on the police was allegedly the transportation of combat grenades. However, the final information is still being established.

Law enforcement is currently checking the men's involvement in the activities of sabotage and reconnaissance groups.

US may send additional military advisors to Ukraine

The United States is considering sending several additional military advisors to Ukraine for a non-combat role. They will work at the Washington Embassy in Kyiv.
