Attack on Slaviansk oil refinery organized by SBU

The Security Service of Ukraine is behind the nighttime drone attack on the Slaviansk Oil Refinery in Russia's Krasnodar Krai, a source in law enforcement agencies told hromadske.

According to our source with direct knowledge of the operation, it can be considered a success as a significant fire erupted in the vicinity of the intended targets – atmospheric distillation columns that are integral to the refining process.

Such attacks, as our source noted, are aimed at undermining the economic potential of Russia and reducing the flow of oil dollars that the enemy sends to the war.

The Slaviansk refinery was hit thanks to the efforts of the SBU in cooperation with the Special Operations Forces and the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In total, SBU drones have recently successfully attacked 12 oil refineries in Russia.

Overnight attacks in Russia

The Russian Defense Ministry announced that on the night of March 17 it allegedly shot down 35 Ukrainian drones over eight regions of Russia. Some of them were allegedly flying towards Moscow.

Several drones also attacked the Slaviansk oil refinery in the Kuban, causing a fire there. The Krasnodar Krai's operations center said that one of the plant's employees died of a heart attack.
