Ukrainian athletes will not compete with Russian ones. Slovakia has banned Ukrainian grain. Ukraine faces a delay in the supply of weapons from partners. Here's what you may have missed from the previous night,
Boycott of sporting events
The Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine has issued an order officially banning participation in competitions with representatives from Russia or Belarus. This applies to Olympic, non-Olympic, and Paralympic sports.
In particular, the ministry ordered the sports departments to ensure that official delegations are recalled from travel if athletes from Russia or Belarus participate in the relevant competitions.
The ministry also recommended that all-Ukrainian sports federations monitor the possible participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes in international sports competitions and inform the ministry in a timely manner if they are found.
Ban on Ukrainian grain
The Ministry of Agriculture of Slovakia has banned the processing and introduction of Ukrainian grain into the feed and food chain due to the presence of a pesticide banned in the EU.
The detected pesticide has a negative impact on human health, the ministry said.
Earlier, in order to protect the Slovak market from cheaper grain from Ukraine, Slovak officials and controlling authorities agreed on a joint inspection procedure.
The Ministry of Agriculture of Slovakia said it supports Ukraine in exporting grain to third countries, but at the same time will protect the interests of domestic farmers and the European market.
Delay in the supply of weapons
Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksiy Danilov said that there are "certain delays" in the delivery of weapons pledged by Western partners.
"We are waiting for the promised assistance from our partners. Unfortunately, not all partners have responded yet. Deliveries are underway — I can't say that they are not — but there are certain, let's say, delays in certain issues," Danilov explained.
However, he did not specify what kind of weapons he was talking about.
