Clandestine Military Equipment Sales Discovered In Ukraine

Regional police have busted an underground scheme where some 200 pieces of allegedly stolen military equipment have been prepared for sale in Ukraine’s Zhytomyr region.
Regional police have busted an underground scheme where some 200 pieces of allegedly stolen military equipment have been prepared for sale in Ukraine’s Zhytomyr region. The police press service reported the equipment was discovered during an investigation into a damaged oil pipeline.

A number of searches were conducted in the Novohrad-Volynskyi district, in northern Ukraine, over a period of two weeks, which revealed nearly 200 pieces of equipment were prepared for sale. Among the findings were BMP infantry fighting vehicles, URAL off-road trucks as well as trailers and transport vehicles.

Officers also seized a large number of spare parts, rechargeable batteries, tires and documents pertaining to the origins of the equipment.

Law enforcement officers are currently trying to determine whether the findings are registered military units. Criminal proceedings have been opened on the grounds of misappropriation or seizure of property by officers.
