Coordination of ships' movement within the "grain deal" and shelling of Sumy Oblast: the last night's highlights
Kyiv, Ankara, and the UN agreed on the movement of 16 ships within the framework of the grain deal; Sumy Oblast was again under Russian shelling: a civilian woman was wounded. Here is what you may have missed from the previous night.
Shelling of Sumy Oblast
On October 30, the Russian occupation troops continued shelling the territory of Sumy Oblast, as a result of which a civilian was wounded and civilian infrastructure was damaged.
A resident of the Krasnopillia community was wounded when the occupants fired mortars at the community. The woman has a mine-blast injury, doctors removed a fragment from her head. Now her life and health are not in danger.
Coordination of ships' movement within the “grain deal”
On Monday, October 31, Ukraine, Turkey and the United Nations agreed on a plan for the movement of 16 ships through the humanitarian corridor in the Black Sea and notified Russia “in accordance with the established procedures”.
At the same time, the Russian source RIA Novosti said that the decisions taken by Kyiv, Ankara, and the UN on the movement of ships “do not oblige” Moscow, which officially notified the Joint Coordination Centre about the suspension of the deal.
Zelenskyy on the situation in Donetsk Oblast
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that on October 30, Ukrainian servicemen managed to repel a Russian attempted assault and replenish the exchange fund.
“Border guards of the Chop detachment, who are currently defending our state in Donetsk Oblast as part of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, showed themselves perfectly. Today, they stopped the fierce assault of the enemy — the Russian attack was repelled. In addition, they managed to replenish our exchange fund. Thank you, guys,” he said.
Success of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the south
On October 30, the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed two Russian ammunition depots in the Bashtanka Raion of Mykolaiv Oblast and Beryslav Raion in Kherson Oblast, the Operational Command South reported.
They added that the Russian occupation forces on the southern front suffered the following losses during the day:
- 27 soldiers;
- a tank;
- 2 mortars;
- an Akatsiya self-propelled large-caliber howitzer;
- a 23 mm caliber anti-aircraft gun;
- 5 armored vehicles.
