Here's a roundup of the most important stories from July 18.
Death of a National Guard soldier
Contract soldier Bohdan Hovorukhin died in the National Guard military unit No. 3036 in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. The deputy commander of the unit, Lieutenant Colonel Svyatoslav Bileychuk, said that Bohdan shot himself in a dugout, which was preceded by a conflict.
"Hovorukhin was always positive, but on that last duty he was overly agitated, 'wound up', he refused to serve at the checkpoint and went to rest in the dugout at an unspecified time. This caused a conflict with other soldiers," Bileychuk said.
The lieutenant colonel added that Hovorukhin was forced to come to the checkpoint, and "there was even a fight there - the guys wanted to force him to be on duty." But the contract soldier "returned to the dugout anyway, where he shot himself with a single shot from an assault rifle."

Driver charged
Kyiv law enforcement officers have pressed charges against a 21-year-old Audi driver who, according to investigators, was speeding on Brovarskyi Avenue on July 9. He lost control, drove off the roadway and collided with a gas station.
The impact caused a large-scale fire on the grounds of the gas station, and its premises and ground equipment burned down completely.
