Death of rescuers in Kherson Oblast and supply of generators from the UAE: last night's highlights

Three rescuers were killed during demining in Kherson Oblast; the United Arab Emirates will transfer 2500 household generators to Ukraine. Here is what you may have missed from the previous night.

Death of rescuers in Kherson Oblast

During the demining of Kherson Oblast, three rescuers from Zhytomyr Oblast hit a Russian mine and died, the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Zhytomyr Oblast reported.

Warrant Officer Serhii Kurinnyi, who was a sapper driver of the pyrotechnic works group, and Junior Sergeant Dmytro Krasnoshchokov, who served as a driver of the motor transport department, died on the spot. On the way to the hospital, paramedic-rescuer Sergeant Oleksii Sych died from his injuries.

Shelling of Sumy Oblast

Russian occupation troops made 87 strikes on the border of Sumy Oblast on December 24: four communities came under fire, and civilian infrastructure was damaged.

Generators from the UAE

On December 24, the United Arab Emirates announced that it would donate 2500 household generators to civilians affected by the Russian invasion. The country will send generators with a capacity of 3.5 to 8 kilowatts.

Funds raised at the cover of “Oh, the Red Viburnum in the Meadow”

British rock band Pink Floyd and Ukrainian musician Andrii Khlyvniuk raised more than $600 thousand by recording a cover version of the song "Oh, the Red Viburnum in the Meadow". The funds will be used for charitable assistance to Ukrainians.

Other news:

  • The Ministry of Culture and Information Policy together with the Ministry of Digital Transformation launched a survey in the Diia application on the date of the Christmas celebration preferred by Ukrainians;
  • during the stabilization measures in the liberated districts of Kherson Oblast, the officers of the Security Service of Ukraine exposed a resident of Chornobaivka, who voluntarily cooperated with Russians after the seizure of the village. The man was engaged in accommodating the occupiers.
  • The Ministry of Defense of the United Kingdom congratulated Ukrainian servicemen on Christmas Eve, December 24: “Your courage and perseverance in defending your country is a shining example for us all”.
