Defense Ministry opposes registered partnerships, Pochayiv Lavra to be checked by Culture Ministry: highlights

Kharkiv Oblast under fire
In the evening of April 22, Russian occupiers fired at Kharkiv and Kharkiv district, setting a civilian building on fire.
According to preliminary data from the Kharkiv Military District Administration, the Russian troops fired S-300 missiles. Preliminary, at least five hits were recorded.
As of the evening of April 22, there was no information on the extent of the damage or victims.
Defense Ministry opposes partnerships
The Ministry of Defense criticized draft law No. 9103 on the introduction of registered partnerships in Ukraine. The ministry says it has no data on thousands of military personnel who cannot formalize their relationships with same-sex partners.
In addition, Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov notes that the bill equates registered partnerships with marriage, while Article 51 of the Constitution of Ukraine states that marriage is based on the free consent of a woman and a man.
Inspection of Pochayiv Lavra
The Ministry of Culture and Information Policy has set up a commission to check how the Ukrainian Orthodox Church — Moscow Patriarchate uses the facilities of the Pochayiv Holy Dormition Lavra monastery.
Earlier in April, the Parliament registered a draft appeal to the government to terminate the lease agreement with the UOC-MP for the facilities of the Pochayiv Dormition monastery.
The complex includes 18 buildings. It was leased to the UOC-MP in 2003, and the lease agreement was signed for 49 years, until 2052.
Electricity tariffs
The National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Utilities does not rule out that electricity tariffs for households may increase to 2.40 and 2.80 hryvnias ($0.065-0.076) per 1 kWh. This is due to the high cost of rebuilding the energy infrastructure.
Italian defense minister calls for negotiations
Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto said that it is necessary to bring Ukraine and Russia to the table for peace talks and noted that China could mediate in this regard.
After the Italian minister's interview was published, Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to the head of the President's Office, wrote on Twitter that "When someone talks about a 'peaceful settlement', Ukraine only hears "surrender, capitulate, comply with the Russian ultimatum".
