In Kherson, Russians destroyed the entire power system during the occupation, the Armed Forces have already liberated more than 3,000 square kilometers in the south, and Lithuanians have donated $250,000 for a maritime drone for Ukraine. Here is what you may have missed from the previous night.
De-occupation of the south
The Armed Forces of Ukraine have already liberated more than 3,000 square kilometers of territory in the south of the country from Russian occupation. At the same time, there may still be remnants of Russian troops in certain areas, according to Operational Command "South".
After retreating from part of Kherson Oblast, the Russian occupation troops are defending along the east bank of the Dnipro River. But countermeasures are still underway on the west bank. Defense forces continue measures to de-occupy settlements on the Kherson axis.
Destroyed power system and demining
During the occupation, Russian troops destroyed the entire energy system of Kherson city, which Ukraine has recently regained control over. It will take about 30 days to restore the city's power system, DTEK said.
Meanwhile, pyrotechnics of the State Emergency Service have already started demining the de-occupied territories of Kherson Oblast. They have already found and defused 1,798 explosive devices, but they say there is still a lot of work to be done.
Power cuts after the onset of cold weather
Power cuts in Kyiv may last longer with the onset of cold weather, as electricity consumption increases with the drop in temperature, DTEK said. They noted that every 5-7 degrees of temperature drop translate on average into plus 10% of electricity consumption.
A marine drone from Lithuanians
Lithuania has raised $250,000 for a maritime drone for Ukraine's special navy. Lithuanians will choose the name for this drone themselves.
Also, the marine drone will be presented to Ukraine by IT companies Netpeak Group, Genesis, Amo, Universe, SocialTech. They will also be able to choose a name for it.
