Detention of director of National Academy of Sciences department
The director of one of the structural units of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine was detained for taking a bribe.
According to the investigation, the official set up a mechanism for receiving bribes for renting premises from individuals and business representatives. The scheme consisted of leasing warehouse and office premises owned and held by a state-owned enterprise without holding an auction and approval of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
According to the prosecutor's office, he wanted to receive 80,000 hryvnias ($2,166) per year for the use of one of the premises. During the investigation, law enforcement officers documented the fact that the official received part of the unlawful benefit in the form of a "monthly payment".
Spain's participation in joint purchase of ammunition
Spain joins the European Union agreement on the joint purchase of ammunition to replenish EU stocks and continue supplies to Ukraine.
On March 22, Spanish Defense Minister Margarita Robles signed a project agreement on the joint purchase of ammunition by EU member states. Thus, Spain joins the first group of 18 countries to sign this agreement.
The ministry notes that this project will allow EU states to purchase ammunition to replenish their stockpiles and continue to support Ukraine, as well as reduce costs due to the scale of procurement and avoid the risk of delays due to unexpected changes in demand.
